Leaving for Ecuador!

This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it!

A few thoughts from Dorinda:

Rusty and I awakened this morning with two different views of this day. He was excited about the adventure he was about to embark on. I, on the other hand, had a dread in my heart that my better half would be thousands of miles away from me for way too long.

As Christians, we understand the importance of missions and our spirit man knows why we do things like missions trips. Yet, it is still hard to say "goodbye" to our loved ones when they are obeying the Lord in His service - even if it is a short term project. We commit them into the Lord's hands and know His Sovereignty will prevail.

So, although, I am sad for my lonely selfish self, I am excited with this team for what God has in store for them as they partner with one of our sister churches in South America.

Posted here is a picture of our team a few minutes before they departed for the airport. (Please note that Roger and Jennifer W. are not pictured. They will be leaving on Saturday.)
As your Pastor's wife, I urge each of you to pray daily for each of these team members. Intercede for each team member for health and safety and a supernatural ability to perform the tasks set before them.

The area our team is traveling to is in a very high altitude. I have been told high altitudes can wear a person's physical strength and endurance level much more quickly. These guys are dependant upon our prayers. Please pray for them daily and fervently.

Our team is the first of four teams to assist in the building of a new church high in the mountains about 2 hours north of Quito. There will be lots of digging and concrete work. They will also minister to members of that church .

One last note, Dan and Susan have visited this area previously. They mentioned this morning that internet connection at the hotel is quite unpredictable, therefore we may not have as many pictures as anticipated. One way or the other, we will do our best to give you daily updates.

Rejoicing in this wonderful day,

Pastor and Dorinda
